Soda and Your Teeth

You are probably aware that there are many things you can do if you’re interested in keeping your teeth strong and healthy. For instance, you probably know it’s important to follow a healthy diet. Still, did you know that some drinks, like soda, can have a negative effect on your teeth?

Unfortunately, anyone can be affected by these sugary drinks, regardless of age. For example, did you know that drinking soda is actually a very common cause of gum disease? The acids that are in soda may actually weaken your pearly whites and will weaken your tooth enamel. To make matters worse, studies have found that Americans are drinking much more soda than they have in the past, leaving them more vulnerable to these issues.

If you enjoy an occasional soda, please rinse your mouth out with water afterward. Still, as you may have guessed, a better solution may be avoiding soda in the first place. Fortunately, there are several beverages that could serve as adequate replacements. For example, seltzer water, tea, pure juices, and kombucha are all options you should consider. Conversely, there are other drinks that you might try avoid. For example, sports drinks can actually cause serious issues since they have lots of sugar in them. For the same reason, you may want to avoid most sugary juices.
