How a Fast-Paced Lifestyle Can Disturb Your Oral Health

Posted .

Did you know your fast-paced lifestyle is taking a toll on your smile? Well, it’s true. This is why our dentist, Dr. Chadwick Webster, strongly encourages you to keep your teeth and gums in mind while you’re running here and there. If you don’t, your smile can suffer major consequences.

A fast-paced lifestyle is dangerous for the smile because it oftentimes doesn’t include time to eat solid, healthy meals. When you’re hungry, you usually settle for foods out of the vending machine or at the gas station. These foods don’t usually have nutritional value and most likely contain high amounts of sugar and acid. This doesn’t leave much room for tooth-healthy foods, like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. If you’re not careful, you could suffer dental issues, like enamel erosion and cavities. The best thing you can do is pack your breakfast, lunch, and dinner the night before your busy day and try to eat as many tooth-healthy foods and snacks as possible.

To strengthen your smile and lessen the chances of suffering dental issues, our dentist encourages you to expose your teeth to fluoride. You can do so by brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, rinsing once a day with fluoride mouthwash, drinking plenty of fluoridated water, and receiving a professional fluoride treatment every six months. You can also place fluoride toothpaste along your gumline before you head to bed at night. Let the toothpaste soak into your teeth as you rest.
